Credit Executive – Digital Lending
About the Role
We are building a new-age, tech-led digital lending business focused on small-ticket, short-tenure unsecured loans for Indian customers.
We are a team of seasoned operators from premier institutions like IIT, NSIT, IIM, with experience working in companies like ICICI Bank, Flipkart, Airtel, Anand Rathi, Snapdeal, RBS etc. We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and execution-focused Credit Executive who will be responsible for customer verification, underwriting, document validation, fraud checks, and ensuring high-quality loan decisions.
This role involves interacting with customers, analyzing applications, identifying risk indicators, validating documents, and ensuring that loans are disbursed only to eligible and genuine borrowers while maintaining portfolio quality and turnaround times.
The ideal candidate should come from a digital lending, instant personal loan, salary advance, short-term unsecured lending, or fintech-NBFC background and should possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and underwrite loan applications in accordance with company credit policies and risk parameters.
- Interact with customers over calls to understand profile details and clarify discrepancies in information or documentation.
- Verify KYC documents, bank statements, salary proofs, employment details, and other customer information.
- Conduct bureau analysis and assess customer repayment capacity and creditworthiness.
- Identify fraud indicators, suspicious profiles, forged documents, and unusual customer behavior patterns.
- Re-evaluate applications wherever additional information or clarification is required.
- Coordinate with customers and internal teams for pending documents and profile completion.
- Ensure adherence to internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and operational processes.
- Maintain approval quality while meeting underwriting productivity and turnaround time targets.
- Escalate suspicious cases and high-risk profiles to the Credit Team Leader for further review.
- Record observations and maintain proper documentation for all credit decisions.
- Monitor exceptions and ensure accurate and timely processing of loan applications.
- Support portfolio quality initiatives by maintaining disciplined underwriting practices and minimizing delinquencies and fraud losses.
- Contribute towards continuous improvement of underwriting processes and customer experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have:
- 1–4 years of total work experience.
- Prior experience in digital lending, personal loans, salary advance, unsecured lending, NBFC, fintech, or credit operations.
- Hands-on experience in customer verification, document scrutiny, bureau analysis, and loan underwriting.
- Strong understanding of KYC processes, bank statement analysis, income assessment, and customer profiling.
- Ability to identify fraud patterns, document discrepancies, and high-risk cases.
- Good communication skills with the ability to interact with customers and gather relevant information.
- Familiarity with bureau reports, LOS/LMS platforms, and underwriting workflows.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of Excel and basic MIS reporting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup-style environment with high ownership and accountability.
